Here in Harold’s Cross NS we are very proud of our actual dig site which is used as part of our eight week archaeology module where our third class students learn all about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Viking Times in Ireland with Mark Kelly (or “Mark the Archaeologist” as he is know to our senior students!)
As part of the module the third classes also go on trips to famous historical sites and museums around Ireland including Trim Castle, Glendalough and Dublinia and if lucky enough may visit an actual live archaeological dig.
It is our intention to build a replica of a Viking House on the grounds of the school which will also feed into our history programme and which will be open to other schools and the wider community to visit.
