School Evaluation

School Self Evaluation and School Improvement Planning in the areas of literacy, numeracy and science has taken place over the past eight years. The staff has readily embraced the whole concept of school self – evaluation and this approach is becoming very much embedded in teachers’ practice. Results in literacy and numeracy are above the national average across all bands and we are very proud of this achievement.

Digital Learning Framework Trial

We are delighted to have been selected to be part of the Digital Learning Framework Trial for the year 2017/18. 30 primary schools across Ireland have been chosen to trial this new approach to evaluating and improving the use of digital technologies in schools. Over the next few months we will be review our current ICT usage in HCNS and setting goals to truly embed digital technologies in our teaching, learning and assessment throughout the school.

Droichead Process:

In 2014 the staff decided to participate in the NIPT/Droichead process. We were part of the original trial of the Droichead process. The PST team has probated eight teachers in the last three years. We currently have 5 NQTs partaking in the Droichead process in our school.

The process has been a very successful and positive experience for the whole staff to date.
